HOLIDAY IDEAS – FLORIDA’S BEACHES AND THE KEYS

Experience a motorhome holiday in Florida and the Keys by following our suggested two-week itinerary, below.
You can tailor-make the experience by adding or removing locations according to your own holiday wish-list. If you have more time and want to explore further still, there are plenty of additional places in Florida to see along the way.

FLORIDA’S BEACHES AND THE KEYS ROUTE

DAY 1 - 2
Fly to Miami with British Airways or Virgin Atlantic. Spend a night or two in a Miami hotel, exploring its many popular beaches and soaking up the chic culture of Florida's swankiest coastline.
DAY 3
Pick up your motorhome and head south to Grassy Key. Here you'll find the Dolphin Research Center - a series of saltwater lagoons that's home to inquisitive bottlenose dolphins and California sea lions.
DAY 4
Continue along the famous Keys and cross the seven-mile bridge on your way to Key West, the southernmost city in the USA.
DAY 5
After a night experiencing the tropical vibe of Key West, retrace your route back along the islands to Key Largo - the self-proclaimed dive capital of the world - where coral reefs, rainbow-coloured marine life and mangrove swamps await.

DAY 6
Bid farewell to the exotic Keys and head into the vast wilderness of the Everglades National Park, a subtropical environment that's home to manatee, crocodile and Florida panther. Follow boarded trails or take an airboat tour to discover this incredible wildlife reserve.
DAY 7
Head north to Sanibel Island, famous for its shelling beaches and the "Sanibel Stoop", via the Everglades and Big Cypress National Reserve.
DAY 8
Continue onto Fort DeSoto Country Park, spread across an archipelago just offshore from St Petersburg, featuring hiking and cycling trails, kayaking, scenic viewpoints and picnic areas. It's also a gateway for the Great Florida Birding Trail. The award-winning beaches here are superb.

DAY 9 - 10
No trip to Florida would be complete without a visit to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. Spend a day revisiting your youth, tackling the big dippers and posing for snaps with Mickey and friends.
DAY 11 - 12
After the adrenalin of Disney, make your way east to visit Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Centre. Local attractions include Mosquito Lagoon, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and Canaveral National Seashore.
DAY 13
Enjoy the postcard-perfect sights of Florida's east coast as you pass through Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale to Dania Beach.
DAY 14
Return your motorhome to Miami and catch your flight back to London.
