    Enjoy the highlights of New Zealand with Tour Escorts Graham and Sue, exploring the South Island’s Mount Cook, Milford Sound, Queenstown, Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers as well as the best of the North Island on this extensive taster tour.
    Starting in Christchurch you will enjoy a city tour before heading by motorhome to Mount Cook. We’ll spend a day in Dunedin, before visiting Milford Sound where you’ll venture down to the underwater observatory and take a relaxing fjord cruise.

    On our visit to Queenstown, the world capital of adventure sports we will spend a day there before heading to Fox Glacier where you’ll have the option to take a helicopter or ski plane flight for a bird’s-eye view of the glaciers.

    Spend an evening embracing Maori culture and experience thermal reserves with their geysers and hot springs. Cruise the Bay of Islands and visit the Hole in the Rock before ending our journey back in Auckland.

    Depart London to New Zealand.

    Arrive Christchurch where you will meet your Tour Escorts and transfer to your hotel (bed and breakfast basis).

    Free day to explore Christchurch. Following a presentation of your motorhome, you will enjoy a welcome meal where you can meet the rest of your fellow travellers.

    Pick up your motorhome and drive to Mount Cook (192 miles), New Zealand’s highest mountain.

    Travel to Dunedin on the Otago Peninsula via Oamaru (180 miles). See the Moeraki boulders en route.

    Free day to explore Dunedin, known as the Edinburgh of the south.

    Drive From Dunedin to Te Anau via Balclutha (180 Miles) with its Scottish influences.

    Full day excursion to Milford Sound including the underwater observatory, a ford cruise, views of many South Island landmarks including Mitre Peak (weather permitting) and wildlife spotting (wildlife permitting).

    Drive to Queenstown via Five Rivers (110 miles).

    DAY 11
    Day to explore Queenstown, the world capital of adventure sports from paragliding to white water rafting. Take a cruise on Lake Wakatipu or the Skyline gondola to Bob’s Peak.

    DAYS 12 – 13
    From Queenstown head for Fox Glacier (210 miles) with a free day to explore the glacier or the nearby Franz Josef Glacier – helicopter or ski plane flights over the glaciers are available and highly recommended.

    DAY 14
    Travel from Fox Glacier to Hanmer Springs via Reefton (257 miles).

    DAY 15
    A short drive today from Hanmer Springs to Kaikoura (63 miles) to ensure you arrive early enough to book the optional whale watching excursion for the next day.

    A day at leisure for whale, dolphin and bird watching, seal and dolphin swimming.

    DAY 17
    Travel from Kaikoura to Lower Hutt. Bid farewell to the South Island and catch the Interislander ferry. Kaikoura to Picton (97 miles), Picton to Wellington ferry crossing the Cook Strait (3 hours 30 minutes), Wellington to Lower Hutt (10 miles).

    DAY 18
    Half-day city tour of Wellington. Make sure to visit Te Papa, the national museum of New Zealand and the ‘beehive’ that houses the parliament.

    DAYS 19 – 20
    Travel to Rotorua, home of Maori heritage centres, hot springs and thermal pools (279 miles). Following a day at leisure to explore the thermal reserves with their geysers that can spout as high as 30m. Enjoy an evening meal with the Maori and learn about their culture.

    DAY 21
    Travel from Rotorua to Orewa, north of Auckland (205 miles). Visit Te Puke, famous for kiwi fruit, on the Bay of Plenty, or Waihi, the old gold-mining town, en route.

    DAYS 22 – 23
    Travel from Orewa to Paihia via Whangarei (120 miles) – en route visit Hokianga Harbour or some of the world’s biggest trees at Waipoua Kauri Forest. Visit Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where the Maori chiefs signed their first accord with the British Crown. A boat cruise around the Bay of Islands and visit to the Hole in the Rock is included.
    2 nights Paihia campsite.
    DAY 24
    Travel from Paihia to Orewa, (168 miles), visiting places that looked of interest to you on the way north.

    DAY 25
    Travel to Auckland (16 miles) and return your vehicle. You will then be transferred to the airport for your evening flight to London.
    DAY 26
    Arrive London. This ends the tour travel arrangements.
