Our suggested two-week motorhome holiday around South Africa gives you a starting point to explore the old battlefields, cities, parks and wildlife reserves this magnificent country has to offer.
Tailor-make your experience as you wish by adding or removing destinations, and if you want to extend your trip, there are lots of additional places to see along the way.

    DAY 1 - 2
Fly to the city of Johannesburg. Pick up your motorhome and start your South African adventure by travelling to Pretoria, one of the country's three capital cities, for your first overnight stay.
    DAY 3
Take the visually stunning Long Tom Pass en route to Sabie, famous for battles between the British and the Boers. The old Pass was built for 19th century waggoners for trade, and as you roll along in the comfort of your motorhome, spare a thought for travellers of years gone by who spent many bumpy days rumbling along the Long Tom Pass.
    DAY 4
From Sabie (which means 'fearful' in Shangaan, referring to the river crocodiles) continue towards Blydeport and pay a visit to some must-see places en route, including the Bourke’s Luck Potholes in Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. Other sights to tick off include God’s Window, the Graskop waterfalls and the Sudwala Caves.
    DAY 5
Make your way to Skukuza rest camp in Kruger National Park, stopping off to see the Three Rondawels - three huge beehive-shaped pinnacles of rock rising loftily above the canyon below.
    DAY 6
From Skukuza, head due south and enjoy a leisurely drive through the magnificent scenery of Kruger National Park on your way to Satara rest camp. Look out for the Big Five as you go.
    DAY 7
Staying within the boundaries of Kruger National Park, continue south to Berg en Dal rest camp. The area is renowned for its population of white rhino, kudu, impala, giraffe, elephant and reedbuck. Get an early start and join a game drive or bush walk, or follow a guide to view San rock paintings sites in the surrounding hills.
    DAY 8
Head out of Kruger National Park and cross the border into Swaziland. Make your way into Mlilwane wildlife centre - a beautiful, secluded sanctuary in the Ezulwini Valley, the 'Valley of Heavens'.
    DAYS 9 - 10
Cross the border back into South Africa and make your way to Hluhluwe Game Reserve. Allow time to discover the iSimangaliso Wetland Park in St Lucia, South Africa's first Natural World Heritage Site, which is home to hippopotamus, crocodile, elephant, buffalo, rhino and zebra. For a memorable experience, why not take a wildlife safari on horseback?
    DAY 11
Head into the battlefields of Dundee, where you can visit Rorke’s Drift - immortalised in the film 'Zulu' - and Isandlwana.
    DAY 12
Drive to Royal Natal National Park and enjoy the magnificent mountainous scenery, crashing waterfalls and walking trails. Keep your eyes peeled for bearded vulture and black eagle.
    DAY 13
A short and visually stunning drive takes you to the Drakensburg Mountains - 'Dragon Mountains' - where you can visit the impressive Amphitheatre, a sweeping cliff face over 3 miles wide, or the Tugela Falls on your way into the Golden Gate National Park.
    DAY 14
Travel back to Johannesburg to return your motorhome and catch the evening flight back to London.
