Arrive in Auckland and spend your first night in a hotel, giving you time to adjust to the time difference and explore the bright lights of the city.
Pick up your motorhome and start your New Zealand adventure by driving north to Paihia. Here you can take a leisurely cruise around the Bay of Islands to spot dolphins and wildlife, visit the spectacular Haruru Falls, and learn about Maori culture.
Continue to subtropical Kaitaia on the northernmost tip of the island. Give yourself a break from driving and take a bus trip to Matauri and Tauranga Bay, a gorgeous unspoilt beach with lovely sea views.
Head south back towards Auckland, calling in at the chic coastal resort of Takapuna, a stylish place with a bustling Sunday market. Enjoy views of Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf islands.
Heading towards Waitomo, first pass through the city of Hamilton - located on the banks of the Waikato River and known for its walks, gardens, cafes and nightlife - before visiting the Waitomo Caves and the famous glow-worms.
Travel to Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest lake and something of an adventure playground. From white water rafting and jet boating to skydiving and skiing, it's all here. For something more leisurely, take a relaxing soak in one of the lake's hot geothermal pools.
Continue south to Palmerston North, a sophisticated city with an abundance of museums, cafes, and a vibrant arts scene. En route you may wish to stop at Turangi, the trout fishing capital of the country.
Visit Wellington, New Zealand's cultured capital, with its attractive harbour, museums, galleries and performing arts. Visit the Te Papa museum to understand the fascinating culture and history of the country.
Cross the Cook Straight on the Interislander ferry to the South Island and head to Kaikoura, a stunning place with rocky coastal landscapes and wild mountain views, famous for its whale watching.
From Kaikoura, travel to Christchurch, the largest city on the South Island and billed as the gateway to the Antarctic.
Continue south along the island's east coast to Dunedin, a great spot to observe wildlife. Here you can join a tour and visit penguin, kiwi, albatross and seal colonies.
Invercargill is one of the southernmost cities in the world. Some of New Zealand's most beautiful destinations are within easy reach, including the Southland heartland, Stewart Island, Fiordland and the Catlins.
Travel to the glorious green slopes and glassy lakes of Te Anau, where an excursion on Milford Sound is a must.
Queenstown is a hotbed of adventure, with all manners of adrenalin-pumping activities and watersports on offer. For a more relaxing experience take a trip on the TSS Earnslaw, go wine tasting in the Queenstown region, or follow one of the scenic hiking trails from the town centre.
Take the Haast Pass to Westland Tai Poutini National Park and take a tour of Fox Glacier and Franz Josef Glacier, 8.1 and 7.5 miles long respectively.
Gold fever hits as you follow the coast north to Greymouth, calling in at Shantytown Heritage Park, a reconstructed 1860s gold rush town.
Take Arthur’s Pass back over to Christchurch for your last night in the Land of the Long White Cloud.
