Drive the short distance to Lamington National Park and spend the day savouring the dense rainforests, ancient trees, spectacular views, waterfalls, birdlife and extensive walking trails that meander around the Park. It's a site of ecological importance and a World Heritage Area.
Bypass Brisbane and continue north to Noosa, where pristine beaches, national parks and lush hinterland awaits.
Known as the Whale Watch Capital of the World, Hervey Bay is a superb spot from which to spot marine life. You can also take an excursion to Fraser Island to experience its Aboriginal heritage, distinct coloured sand cliffs and diverse flora and wildlife.
Drive to Rockhampton where you can snorkel at Shelving Beach, explore the Capricorn Caves, or take a coral cruise to Great Keppel Island.
Travel to exotic Airlie Beach and take a trip out to the world-renowned Whitsunday Islands, a gateway for the Great Barrier Reef. Or simply take a relaxing dip in the swimming lagoon on the shore.
Continue north along the coast to the city of Townsville, home to The Strand - a lovely scenic beach promenade - and the world’s largest living coral reef aquarium.
Drive to Mission Beach with its fantastic sandy beaches. It's the point where two World Heritage sites - the Wet Tropics rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef - meet.
Travel to Atherton, 'capital' of the Tropical Tablelands and a great place from which to explore its beautiful lakes, waterfalls, vivid red landscapes and rainforests. Natural attractions include the Curtain Fig Tree, Millaa Millaa Falls, and crater lakes.
Head to Port Douglas and visit the Daintree Rainforest, the oldest living rainforest on earth.
