    This tour has some long drives and/or sometimes the roads will not be well maintained. A number of the activities on this tour require some walking and/or physical exertion.

    32 DAY ESCORTED TOUR

    DAY 1

    Depart London for your overnight flight to Johannesburg.


    DAYS 2 - 3

    Arrive Johannesburg where you will meet your Tour Escorts and transfer to a Johannesburg hotel (booked on a half-board basis) where you will enjoy a welcome meal in the company of your fellow travellers. Included is an excursion to the Cradle of Humankind, the world’s richest hominin site, home to around 40 per cent of the world’s human ancestor fossils. We will also visit the Lesedi Cultural experience including lunch, where you will be able to encounter people of Zulu, Xhosa, Pedi, Ndebele and Basotho origin.

    DAY 4

    Transfer to the motorhome depot where a representative of the company will demonstrate your vehicle. After stocking up, drive to Sabie via the Long Tom Pass (217 miles).

    DAYS 5 – 6

    Enter Kruger National Park where we will stay at the Satara (123 miles) and Berg-en-Dal (103 miles) campsites – keep your eyes peeled for the big five. Included is an evening sunset safari at Satara. 2 nights Kruger National Park campsites.


    DAY 7

    Travel into eSwatini (formerly Swaziland) in the Ezulwini Valley (117 miles). The grassy southern plains are home to animals such as antelopes and zebras, as well as many birds.

    DAY 8

    Head into the St Lucia Wetlands Park (204 miles) where we will organise a ‘hippo and croc’ boat cruise and get up close and personal with the local wildlife.

    DAY 9

    Time to hit the beach, as we head to Ballito (120 miles) where dolphins are frequently spotted surfing the waves of the Indian Ocean.

    DAYS 10 - 11

    Head into Royal Natal National Park which forms part of the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park UNESCO World Heritage Site (217 miles). The main feature is the world famous Amphitheatre, a rock wall approximately five kilometres in length, and 500m high. Enjoy a free day enjoying one of the many spectacular hikes in the area.

    DAY 12

    Drive to the Golden Gate Highlands National Park (71 miles) which is secretly tucked away in the rolling foothills of the Maluti Mountains and surrounded by breathtaking scenery of wildlife and lush vegetation.

    DAY 13

    Continue along the Lesotho border to Ladybrand (104 miles) – try visiting one of the many rock paintings in the area. Overnight Ladybrand campsite.


    DAY 14

    Heading south, travel to Gariep Dam (178 miles), the biggest dam in South Africa and surrounded by nature reserves with wildlife running on open plains.

    DAY 15

    Continue to Graaf-Reinet in the Camdebo National Park (152 miles). Graaf-Reinet has retained much of the character of a typical 19th century town and is known as the ‘gem of the Karoo’.

    DAY 16 - 17

    Continuing south we head into Addo Elephant Park where we will enjoy an organised sundowner game drive where, if we are lucky, we will see black and white rhino as well the elephants that give the park its name.

    DAY 18 -19

    Time to hit the coast again as we travel to Tsitsikamma National Park (31 miles) where we will stay at one of the best locations for a campsite in South Africa. Why not try one of the adventure activities in the area?

    DAY 20

    Continue along the Garden route to Plettenberg Bay (or Plett to the locals), a favourite seaside escape for Cape Towners (45 miles). Overnight Plettenberg Bay campsite.

    DAY 21 - 22

    En route to Knysna (29 miles), visit an elephant sanctuary where you can meet orphaned elephants and learn more about these beautiful giants. Also included is a buffet dinner cruise to the Knysna Heads on a paddle cruiser.

    DAY 23

    Continue to Wilderness (29 miles) taking in more of the Garden Route.

    DAYS 24 - 25

    Today we will head to Oudstshoorn (46 miles), the ostrich capital of South Africa, and home to the Cango Caves. Included is an excursion up the Swartberg Pass including dinner at the Kobus se Gat restaurant – a truly African gastronomical experience.

    DAYS 26

    Continue on scenic Route 62 to Montagu (150 miles) famous for its awe inspiring rock formations, orchards, vineyards, local herbs and healing hot mineral springs.

    DAYS 27 - 28

    Passing through South Africa’s most famous vineyards, we travel to Stellenbosch (99 miles) to enjoy a wine-tasting tour (transport provided), with lunch, sampling a selection of the various wines produced in this area.

    DAYS 29 - 30

    Pass through Cape Town on your way to Melkbosstrand for the last two nights of the tour from where we take a guided tour of Cape Town including a trip up Table Mountain if the weather permits. The farewell meal at a local restaurant will enable you to say farewell to your new found friends.

    DAY 31

    Return your motorhome to the depot from where you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight to the UK.


    DAY 32

    Arrive London. This ends the tour travel arrangements.
